Is the Encounter Mara for Me?
Located in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, Encounter Mara places you on the doorstep of one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich regions. The camp blends into its natural surroundings, with ten spacious tents that create an intimate atmosphere.
Life at Encounter Mara is open to the wilderness around you. The communal lounge and dining areas lead onto a broad viewing deck, where you might see giraffes browsing nearby or lions drawn to the saltlick just in front of camp. From dawn birdsong to the distant calls of hyena and lion after dark, the sounds of the bush are a constant companion.
Between game drives, you can relax in the shaded lounge or explore the area with a game drive, ending at the camp for a hot shower in their en-suite bathrooms. Evenings are often spent around the firepit, sharing stories under wide East African skies.
Encounter Mara is especially suited for families with younger children, while couples and first-time safari travellers will also appreciate its welcoming atmosphere and excellent wildlife encounters.
