Is the Popa Falls Lodge for Me?
Popa Falls Resort is your gateway to Namibia’s north-eastern corner – with its perennial rivers, magnificent indigenous woodlands, riverine forests, floodplains and reed – lined channels.
It is the ideal base to explore the Mahango Game Park, with over 450 species of birds recorded.
A wide variety of wildlife species, including elephant, hippo, buffalo, crocodile, red Lechwe, reedbuck, roan and sable antelope, and if you’re lucky, even the elusive Sitatunga antelope can be observed.
The ‘falls’ are, in fact, a series of cascades created by a quartzite ledge that causes the river to split into numerous channels.
They can be accessed on foot from the rest resort. Tigerfish, Threespot and Greenheaded tilapia are just some of the species of game fish that occur in the Kavango River, making it a popular destination for anglers.
Built on the southern banks of the Kavango River from local timber and thatch, the small, secluded resort offers simple but comfortable accommodation in idyllic surroundings.Â
Various types of accommodation are on offer, from camping to luxury river cabins.
