Wine enthusiasts can now tap into the variety and quality of the Cape Winelands with a new guide that makes Cape Town’s celebrated wine routes more “accessible.”

The Winelands Wonders guide, launched by the City of Cape Town, offers a Google Map with detailed information on the Cape’s wine regions and an interactive WhatsApp channel for visitors looking to explore around 40 wine farms across three iconic routes: Constantia in the Southern Suburbs, Helderberg (a sub-route of the Stellenbosch Wine Route), and the Durbanville Wine Valley.

The City of Cape Town’s Economic Growth Directorate launched the comprehensive guide earlier this week for the “seasoned connoisseurs or those simply curious” about exploring the city’s Winelands drawcards.

Users can explore the map below to uncover wine farms in the Constantia, Durbanville, and Helderberg regions.  Or click to access a pre-populated WhatsApp message to discover more.

Cape Town, as a cosmopolitan city, offers an exceptional wine experience right on the city’s doorstep. Visitors can explore the city’s oldest wine farm along the Constantia route,  experience a more modern approach along the Durbanville route, or treat their tastebuds to the Helderberg as an introduction to the ever-popular and expansive Stellenbosch wine route.

Durbanville Wine Route: A Blend of Innovation and Heritage

Groot Phesantekraal Farm is one of the farms carving a modern niche for itself along the Durbanville Wine Route, showcasing a harmonious blend of contemporary winemaking techniques, a mastery of Pinotage, South Africa’s signature grape, and a deep respect for heritage.

Helderberg Wine Route: Unveiling Hidden Gems

The Helderberg Wine Route is an off-the-beaten-path Winelands experience, known as a sub-route of the famed Stellenbosch Wine Routes, and includes the Cavalli Estate in Somerset West.
