Botswana is known as one of the best safari destinations in Africa.  With its vast open areas and large herds of wildlife, it is the perfect destination for your safari.  You are also spoilt for choice with such a variety of activities from game drives, boat cruises and walking safaris to find the wildlife you are searching for.  But Botswana does not only offer some of the best safaris, it will also let you fall in love.  Not only with Africa, but with each other.

Planning a Romantic Holiday in Botswana

Take to the sky with amazing views over the Okavango Delta.  Not only can you view the beautiful landscapes below as you board your scheduled flights between camps, but you can also spoil your loved one with a romantic early morning hot air balloon safari.  Wake up before the sun rises as you are transported to the launch site.  Here you get to see the beautiful balloon get filled with hot air as you sip on your coffee before you jump aboard.  With the sun rising over the landscapes and the wildlife stretching as their day begins, this would be an amazing start to yours.

Another great way to explore Botswana is on its cool flowing waters.  The Chobe River is known for exploring the area by boat.  Cruise the river with your loved one as the cool breeze offers a relief from the hot African Sun.  Here you get to enjoy each other’s peaceful company as you watch elephants enjoy the refreshing waters and crocodiles lurking around.  Another unique way to explore Botswana would be to glide through the tranquil waterways of the Okavango Delta in a mokoro.  Just the two of you with your guide gliding slowly through the reeds and water lilies searching for the smaller creatures of nature.  Little reed frogs and dragonflies are among the more popular.  Ask your guide to help and surprise your loved one with a traditional water lily necklace.

Gentle lovely giants are common in Botswana.  Elephants move gracefully through the bush and protect their loved ones. Little ones always close to their mother.  While staying at either Baines or Stanley’s Camp, you would be able to meet these gentle giants, up close and personal.  You get to enjoy a morning with these giants as you walk through the bush.  Witness private moments as they forage, play and wander through nature.

What is more romantic than a sunset?  An African Sunset to end your day!  As you depart the lodge in the afternoon, you follow the tracks of wildlife as they start to look for a resting place for the night.  Around the corner, you come to a watering hole, the playground for many.  Elephants playing in the mud and antelope getting a drink before bedtime.  The sun setting in the background.  As you sip on your G&T, with the arm of your loved one around you, you stare at the sun setting in the Africa bush.  Colours of orange and reds fill the sky with clouds portraying the magical adventures offered in Botswana.  A perfect ending to another day in the African bush!

As you return to the lodge at the end of an exciting day, you arrive at a candlelit dinner with burning fires for a little warmth and cosiness.  Enjoy dinner with some good wine and share your experience of the day.  All before you return to your comfortable tent in the African bush with roaring lions in the distance.  Tomorrow awaits another thrilling day in Africa!
