We worked with Alice to plan the safari portion of our South Africa trip. Alice was wonderful to work with. She was very helpful with finding two safari locations within our budget. We considered both Botswana and South Africa, and she provided some great insight into each area.

The vacation she planned went so smoothly! We were very impressed. The safari lodges and hotel in Johannesburg were excellent. I would definitely plan another safari through this company.

Everything has been perfect, the accommodations, transport, tours, etc. We thought Buffalo Camp was amazing, but Kirkman’s Kamp is even better! Goes without saying we would highly recommend our friends book though you!

Everyone was so helpful in making the arrangements. The booking people helped in all the questions we had, they were polite and helpful. The tour and lodge were amazing. Everyone was helpful and very interesting to talk to. They made our stay homey and welcoming.

We could not have been more pleased with “Discover Africa.” Our agent, Megan W, was knowledgeable, accommodating and highly responsive. She asked pertinent questions, listened carefully to our needs, then organized a personalized tour- the likes of which we will long remember. Megan called our journey the “Amazing South African Adventure.”

They organized everything for our first visit to Africa, from the airport meet & greet through to the tours, great hotels and locations.

Carel, it was wonderful and had great memorable experience. it seems indeed these animals were waiting to see us 🙂 we had seen every possible animals, including Python.

The girls can’t stop talking about this trip. I think we were very lucky to have seen some of the sights that we were told are relatively rare.

It was fascinating to see nature at work … elephants chasing away the hyenas, the baby buffalo going deep into the water to ward off the hyenas, and finally, amazing teamwork by the hyenas to circle the baby buffalo and attack in turns. No textbook can come close to explaining evolution and the animal ecosystem than the three hours we spent watching the spectacle.

At the Masai Mara, we witnessed the wildebeest migration … crossing the Mara river. We can’t wait to get back to explore more of Africa! We truly loved every minute of the safari.

All in all, one of the most memorable and educational vacations we have had! Thank you again. It’s a refreshing change from the usual travel companies that want to sell a package and move on. Needless to say, I will be referring my friends to you to plan their Africa vacation.

All was quiet at Masodini Lodge when we heard the roars of a female lion calling for her pride to help feed her babies, she’d recently been wounded. She must have been at least 500m away but sounded like she was at the foot of our door. The sound still rumbles through me.

Waking up at 5:00 am to a bumpy ride all the way to a hidden hyena den, was something I’ll never forget. But the absolute best part was when the 1-month-old cub peeked his head out to say hello. It was heartbreakingly cute.

Two male lions tried to take on an older female lion. The alpha male recently died and they were trying to take over his pride. The female lion was having none of it and while the males tried to tag team her; she swatted her massive paw at them to shake them off. In the end, she won the fight, which we were told is not so common, and the males left her alone. That was one tough cat.
