Namibia in October

Africa's best authentic tailor-made safaris

The dry season continues into October, and parks like Etosha National Park are excellent places for wildlife enthusiasts. However, the dust during this month can make photography difficult, as it can get hazy.

Herds of animals congregate at waterholes, making game drives particularly eventful. The weather allows for plenty of fun in the sun, and there are a variety of activities to participate in.

The end of October generally welcomes a few thundershowers, although November signals the start of the rainy season. Even then, the rain shouldn’t heavily impact safari experiences.

Nambia is a stunning holiday destination in any month. There are countless sites to see and much to learn about this fantastic destination.

Weather in October

October is typically dry and warm, with rain expected towards the end of the month.

Wildlife viewing is at its peak this month, as few water sources are available, causing animals to gather at the remaining waterholes.

Average Weather in October

Max 29℃84℉25 mm

Places to Visit in Namibia and Why

Etosha National Park

The chances of seeing the Big Five in October are very high. As it tends to be a scorching month, it’s recommended that you bring sunscreen for protection while outdoors.

Besides the Big Five, the park houses zebras, giraffes, springboks, jackals, and hyenas.

Damaraland

Home to the Damara people, this region is an excellent place to learn about a new culture and see one of the world’s largest mountains, Brandberg.

Elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, lions, and cheetahs commonly roam the grounds, while hyenas and rhinos are occasionally seen.

Skeleton Coast

The Skeleton Coast, home to the Himba tribe, is a must-see location. In addition to the fascinating shipwrecks on the desert strip, the park consistently draws crowds of visitors for its Cape fur seal colonies.
