Discover Africa with Andre
Andre heads up the marketing and technology aspects of Discover Africa. He loves finding creative ways to showcase Africa with the use of technology. In 2018 he led the Google Trekker South Africa project, in collaboration with Google and South Africa Tourism. In 2014 he created HerdTracker - a web app that tracks and plots the Great Wildebeest Migration to an interactive Google Map, for people around the world to enjoy (and be inspired to see the real thing for themselves!)
Andre is one of the founding duo of Discover Africa. He is a father, husband, runner, surfer, swimmer, adventurer, self-professed geek and lover of the great outdoors.
The travel bug bit Andre in high school, during a family trip to Belgium, Holland and Austria. A few years later, during a long university holiday, Andre backpacked his way through South Africa, Mozambique and Malawi. “This ‘roughing it’ trip is when I fell in love with Africa”.
After completing his studies, Andre worked and traveled in the US, UK and Australia before returning home circa 2002. Soon thereafter, Andre and Steve connected to form a self-drive travel company that helped people explore Africa in fully-kitted 4x4 safari vehicles. That business would eventually become Discover Africa Group.
