Game Drives and Bush Walks in South Luangwa

Day 1

South Luangwa National Park

Staying at Time + Tide Nsolo

You arrive at Lusaka airport on time to transfer on the local flight to Mfuwe. Should you require a pre-night in Lusaka, chat to us for options.

Arrive Mfuwe airstrip where you are met by the lodge's safari guide; road transfer into the South Luangwa and the camp located about 2 hours away. The game drive starts from the moment you hop on the safari vehicle.

Arrive at Nsolo Camp and time at leisure until the afternoon game drive. Nsolo has five charming safari rooms stretching out on a raised wooden platform along a bend in the seasonal Luwi River.

The camp is built alongside an elephant path, ensuring there’s no end to the action around camp. Chuckle at warthogs and vervet monkeys while enjoying a cold local beer from the bar. With a regular wild dog den nearby and lion prides using the dry riverbed as a thoroughfare, walking and driving safaris around the camp offer big game viewing at its best.

Day 2-3

South Luangwa National Park

Staying at Time + Tide Nsolo

Your days are filled with game viewing, either on foot, or with a game drives. You have some time relaxing at camp and watching nature from the comfort of your own deck.

By combining fantastic wildlife with extremely high-quality guiding, Luangwa comes out near the top of the list of Africa's most famous parks. You will enjoy a game drive or walk in the early morning, and a second in late afternoon. The hours between are yours to linger over lunch and enjoy a siesta, or spend time watching the birds and animals in camp. Game drives usually take place in open-topped 4WD vehicles, and an afternoon drive may continue after dark in search of the park’s nocturnal creatures. On a walking safari, you can expect a leisurely pace, with fascinating input from an expert guide.

Day 4

South Luangwa National Park

Staying at Time+Tide Kakuli

After breakfast, you will pack your bags and leave camp on foot. Your luggage will be transferred directly to the next camp, while you will be walking accompanied with your safari guide. The pace is slow; you can also be transferred by road, if you prefer.

Arrive at Kakuli and enjoy the different location, this side close to the river. The camp's location is elevated, so you can take in spectacular views of the Luangwa River. The elevated main lounge overlooks the river and a permanent lagoon. Beneath it, a wildlife hide offers up-close views of animals stopping by for a drink. Take a deep breath and admire the sweeping vista with a refreshing drink of your own before sampling traditional Zambian dishes at dinner.

Day 5

South Luangwa National Park

Staying at Time+Tide Kakuli

The camp makes a great base for exploring by vehicle and on foot, with a resident lion pride, a seasonal colony of jewel-like carmine bee-eaters and the most sightings of leopards in a single drive every year. During the lush emerald ‘green season’ venture out by boat and on foot to enjoy some of the best opportunities for wildlife and landscape photography.

Day 6

End Of Itinerary

It is your last day in the bush, and you will be transferred to Mfuwe airport after breakfast. The return flight to Lusaka is included; then you are off back home or chat to us to extend your trip. You can combine South Luangwa, with Kafue, or Lower Zambezi; or hop to nearby Victoria Falls or extend with a few days in Malawi.
