Breath-taking Mboma Island Expeditions is a piece of pristine paradise located in one of three remote area’s on the tip of the game rich Moremi Game Reserve. Based out of Mboma Island on the floodplains of the meeting point of the Delta’s fresh waters and the Moremi’s savannah terrain, means that Mboma is ideal for both land and water-based safaris.

The camp overlooks the Okavango Delta’s floodplains and gives you a remote, wild and untouched safari experience. The accommodation comprises of 5 Meru-style canvas tents, which is fully equipped to give your camping experience the most comfort. The unique and diverse area offers an abundance of wildlife species.

Meru Tent

Mboma has 5 light Meru-style canvas tents equipped with twin beds and en suite, open-air bathrooms. Everything about this camp is eco-friendly, from the sole use of solar-power, to bucket showers, and chemical eco-friendly toilets. Tents are fully furnished using the finest linen and kitted out in the creature comforts from home. Decor is in perfect harmony with the surrounds – neutral tones are interrupted by bold pops of colour that reflect the colourful spirit of Botswana.

Boating Excursions

At Mboma island we use motorised boats to explore the water channels and lagoons that make up the Okavango Delta. This a great way to explore the waterways and remote islands that make up this incredible landscape. Being on the boat gives you the opportunity to view different species that you may not encounter from land. This is a great option for keen birders and photographers.

Mokoro Activities

This is a unique way to experience the Delta and its waterwyas, as you are poled in a dugout canoe by your guide through narrow waterways, flanked by papyrus. The silence and calmness of being on the water gives a sense of tranquility and peace. It also gives one the opportunity to see the smaller things, like painted reed frogs and malachite kingfishers, species you may not see otherwise.

Game Drives

Game drives are conducted in an open game viewer by a professional and very experienced guide. The animals in the Moremi Game Reserve have become accustomed to game viewers over many years. This allows guests to get up close and personal with the wildlife, giving one the opportunity to get that perfect picture!
